Welcome to Hammond Flute Repair!
Every musician - from the aspiring new student who is just starting out to the seasoned professional with an established career - needs a reliable instrument that will always be in peak condition. That is why I'm here. My job is to keep your flute playing as beautifully and easily as it possibly can so that you have no worries about its performance and can focus on your own.
I exist so you can focus on the music.
While the company name suggests suggests emergency repairs primarily, in truth regular maintenance is the most important thing you can do to keep your flute in great working condition. This starts with you!
ALWAYS swab your flute out when you're finished playing - I even recommend swabbing 20 minutes into a practice session.
ALWAYS swab using paper towel. It is more absorbent and much more sanitary than any cloth you may have.
NEVER use flute flags - they will only spread condensation around!
NEVER use cigarette paper, dollar bills, or any other abrasive materials on sticky pads. Instead try an unscented facial tissue.
There are many more tricks that you can do personally to keep your flute in great shape, and you can find many of them here on my Guide to Flute Care and Maintenance.
But maintenance is more than just swabbing out your flute. Just like any other machine you have (starting with your car), your flute needs fresh oil. I recommend Clean, Oil & Adjusts every 1-3 years, depending on how much you play. COAs are vital in keeping your flute in top shape and ensuring that it will last for your lifetime and beyond. See the Services page for more details.
